DEPRAG's SENSOMAT series was designed for fastening applications where the driving-torque (thread-forming torque) is close to – or even higher than – the seating torque. This is often the case in applications involving sheet metal, wood, or self-drilling pass-through screws.
The SENSOMAT spindle is equipped with a clutch lock-out mechanism, which allows the safe assembly of thread-forming or thread-cutting screws. In operation the clutch is initially locked out and the spindle drives the screw with full motor power. Shortly before the screw bottoms out, the clutch is activated and the driver shuts-off exactly at the preset torque. The screw is completely seated without any damage to the screw thread.
Use of our specially designed shut-off clutch ensures a torque accuracy ≤ 3% standard deviation, regardless of the screw joint. In many cases and under suitable conditions, it is possible to achieve an even higher torque accuracy and a Cmk value ≥ 1.67 (at a tolerance of 15%). Accuracy of this nature essentially translates to an error rate of less than 0.6 per one million fastening cycles. To increase processing reliability even further, it is possible to additionally control the screw-depth and the shut-off of the screwdriver.
